Games People Play

Games People Play is a song written, composed and performed by singer/song-writer Joe South. In 1968, the song was released on Joe's debut album: Introspect. It won the Grammy Award for Song of the Year in 1970.
It ' is a protest song. The lyrics protest against various forms of hate, inhumanity and intolerance...both personal and social.
It still holds true today...games people play in politics and those who lead us to who knows where or why.
.

♫ Games People Play Now ♫

Whoa--the games people play now.
Every night and every day now.
Never meanin' what they say now.
Never sayin' what they mean.

While they wile away the hours
in their ivory towers,
'till they're covered-up with flowers
in the back of a black limousine.
Whoa we make one another cry,
break a heart then we say goodbye;
cross our hearts and we hope to die
that the other was to blame.

But neither one will ever give-in,
so we gaze at an eight-by-ten
thinkin' 'bout the things that might have been
and it's a dirty rotten shame.

People walkin'-up to ya,
singin' glory hallelujah
'n' they're tryin' ta sock it to ya,
in the name of the Lord.

They're gonna teach you how to meditate,
read your horoscope, cheat your fate.
And furthermore to Hell with hate
Come-on and get-on board.

Look-around tell me what you see.
What's a-happenin' to you and me?
God grant me the serenity
to jus' remember who I am.

'cause you've given-up your sanity
for your pride and your vanity,
turn your back on humanity;
Oh and you don't give a da da da da da.

I am getting a lot of my past shots loaded since I can't take many new ones.
If you can't sit down but for a minute..you cannot drive...and if you want to know
how it is to be me....try not sitting...you can only stand for a short time...no driving..no bubble baths..no dining out ....laying down isn't always comfortable...no bending over ...
and lots more I can't do. But I can pick up things with my toes great !!

Retired Dummy

Charlie McCarthy job Basic Ventriloquist Dummy
Ventriloquist Edgar Bergen & his wisecracking wooden dummy Charlie McCarthy were icons of Americana performing on stage, radio, movies and television from the 1920-70s.Charlie's forty pound body consisted of a head made of pine and a nine-inch hickory spine made from a broomstick.
Once Mae West asked Charlie to "Come up and see me sometime? Charlie responded "What would I do? To which West suggestively replied "I'd let you play around in my wood pile;"
Candice Bergen (of MURPHY BROWN fame) once said of her father's dummy "For me as a child Charlie McCarthy had semi-human status. He wasn't flesh and blood and he wasn't a doll, either. But he was a sacred calf. He brought home the bacon."

Comfortably Numb

Hello.
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone home?
