To the west of the Mall stands the Lincoln Memorial (23rd St. N.W. +1 202 426 6841), immediately recognizable as the building pictured on pennies and five-dollar bills. Inside sits a larger-than-life sculpture by Daniel Chester French of the Great Emancipator, staring pensively toward the Capitol. Built in 1922, the monument's 36 Doric columns represent the states in the Union at the time of Lincoln's death. Many demonstrators have spoken out from these steps, literally "backed" by Lincoln as they faced enormous crowds gathered around the long Reflecting Pool below. In 1963 Martin Luther King, Jr., delivered his "I have a dream..." speech here. Well before that, in 1939, opera singer Marion Anderson gave a groundbreaking concert after being barred from performing at nearby Constitution Hall because of her race. If you stroll around to the Potomac side of the monument, you'll see it faces Memorial Bridge with a long view up to Arlington House, once Robert E. Lee's home. The view is intentional, a symbolic reuniting of North and South.

The Insane Spanish Cobras started in the late 1940s or early 1950s, more than likely the early 1950s like 1952 or 1953 because that was the year that Puerto Rican immigration began on the North side of Chicago. Back in the 50s they were known as the Crazy Snakes. In the year 1960 a group of government workers known as Gang Outreach Workers were working with the Spanish Cobras. Gang Outreach Workers went around Chicago getting to know the gangs and working with them to attempt to help them fight poverty and steer the gangs in positive directions. In 1960 there is documentation of these workers working with the Spanish Cobras of the north side of Chicago. The Cobras are said to have been founded by King Cobra. Who was the Spanish Cobra leader for a long time. Throughout the 1960s the Spanish Cobras feuded heavily with the Latin kings and other white and Puerto Rican gangs. In the late 1960s (probably 1969) the Spanish Cobras united with some other north side gangs. They united with the Imperial Gangsters, Latin Eagles, and the Latin Disciples, to form ULO (United Latino Organization). Also the YLO was formed as well which included and still includes the YLO Disciples (YLODs) and the YLO Cobras (YLOCs). In 1978 King Cobra guided the Spanish Cobras into the FOLK nation because all of ULO voted to join Folks. In the year 1979, the Latin Kings told the Insane Unknowns to kill King Cobra, so the IUKs killed King Cobra in 1979. By the early 80s the Cobras had expanded around the north side quite significantly, they were located around: Augusta to North Ave/ California Ave to western; Lemoyne and Springfield; Maplewood and Division, and Artesian and Potomac and others. They attended Von Humboldt Grade school and Clemente H.S.
There was a group of Cobras that formed in the early 80s or possibly the 1970s known as the Spanish Cobra Disciples or (Mid town Cobras or West Town). They were located from Ridgeway to Grand/ Pulaski to Wabansia, and on Division ST. These Cobras attended Noble Grade School, Cameron Grade School, Orr H.S., Shurz H.S., and Clemente H.S. They used the pitchfork in their symbols and also wore the also flew the colors of black and blue along with black and green. The Spanish Cobras soon expanded their territory beyond their original hoods in Humboldt Park where they started. They set up shop in Logan Square, Bucktown, Wicker Park, Albany Park, and into Kelvyn Park. The Cobras fought vicious wars with the Latin Kings and the Insane Unknowns in the 1970s and the 1980s. In the late 80s the Cobras began to expand into Koz Park which would cause a war between them and the Simon City Royals a few years later. In the year 1992 the Spanish Cobras created the Insane Familia that was the unity of a group of Folk Nation gangs from the north side that consisted of: Orchestra Albanies, Ashland Vikings, Insane Dragons, Insane Dueces, Harrison Gents, and in 1995 the C-Notes, and for a short time later in the 1990s the Latin Lovers and the Latin Jivers.
The Insane was then added to their prefix to represent that they joined the familia. The Insane was not created in 1992; the Spanish Cobras have been using Insane since the early 80s and quite possibly as far back as the 1970s. The Insane Familia separated them from the Maniac Family led by the Maniac Latin Disciples. The MLDs and Cobras were growing into power at a tremendous rate and both gangs wanted to control the drug trade on the north side; therefore, in the early 90s (once interalliance fighting became very acceptable) the two gangs went to bloody war. The Cobras now are enemies with Maniacs and even Almighty gangs like Imperial Gangsters, Simon City Royals, Latin Eagles, and Harrison Gents (left the Insanes long ago). Tuffy C took over as chief after King Cobras murder in 1979, but now it is said that the Cobras are ran by Crazy C. The Cobras are now very large in number and have sets in the suburbs and even other states.

The Battle of Fredericksburg ... Decisive Southern Victory (Confederate Flag) by Johnny Rebel - Proud Southron
Fredericksburg, Battle of (December 11-15, 1862), the scene of a decisive Southern victory against great odds. After the defeat of Union General George B. McClellan at Sharpsburg, Maryland, command of the Army of the Potomac was given to General Ambrose E. Burnside, who made Richmond, Virginia—instead of the Army of Northern Virginia—his objective. General Robert E. Lee outmarched him to Fredericksburg and placed his army of about 78,000 on the high ground from one to two miles south of the Rappahannock River. Lee's lines roughly paralleled the river for more than six miles. Burnside slowly concentrated his 122,000 troops on the northern bank, with difficulty drove the Confederate sharpshooters out of Fredericksburg, and crossed to the southern bank, where he drew his lines for battle on 13 December. The Confederate right flank was unprotected by any natural obstacle, but Burnside launched only one major assault on the exposed line during the entire day, and this was repulsed. The main battle was fought at the base of Marye's Heights, where a sunken road provided a natural breastwork for the Confederates. Wave after wave of Union infantry was broken and rolled back by the devastating fire from this road. Nightfall ended the battle along the entire line, with about 13,000 Unionists and 5,000 Confederates killed or wounded. Burnside planned to renew the attack on 14 December but was dissuaded by his commanders. His plans frustrated by his defeat, Burnside withdrew his demoralized army north of the Rappahannock during the night of 15 December, and on 25 January 1863 he was relieved of his command, which was given to General Joseph Hooker.

By RANDY KENNEDY
Andrew F. Tully Jr., an author who was one of the first American reporters to enter conquered Berlin in April 1945, died on Monday in a nursing home in Silver Spring, Md. He was 78 and lived in Washington.
The cause was complications from Alzheimers disease, said his wife, Molly.

In 1962, Mr. Tully had both a novel, Capitol Hill, and a nonfiction book, C.I.A.: The Inside Story, on The New York Timess best-seller lists.
He started working for newspapers while still in high school, as a sports reporter for his hometown daily newspaper in Southbridge, Mass. At 21, he bought the towns weekly newspaper, The Southbridge Press, for about $5,000 with loans from friends, making him the youngest newspaper publisher in America.

The Governor Harry W. Nice Memorial Bridge is a 1.7 mile, two-lane continuous truss bridge that spans the Potomac River between Newburg in Charles County, Maryland and Dahlgren in King George County, Virginia.[1] The bridge is narrow (one 11-foot lane in each direction with no shoulders), steep (up to 3.75 percent grade), and has a reduced speed limit (50 mph on the main span, even slower through the toll gates and plaza).[2] This combination causes cars and trucks to slow and merge, which often results in backups.
This two lane bridge carries U.S. Route 301, which is a spur of U.S. Route 1 and a popular north-south alternative for bypassing the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area as well as Interstate 95, Interstate 495 (Capital Beltway), and the Woodrow Wilson Bridge to the north along the Potomac River. It is one of only two toll bridges that cross the Potomac.

The music / song used at the end and beginning most of this channels recent videos is titled, Battle Cry of Freedom, written by American composer George F. Root. It was written in 1862, during the American Civil War (1861 -1865). The song was written for the Union, the north (blue uniforms), President Abraham Lincolns Army of the Potomac. The song was popular throughout the Union, and President Lincoln used it as his campaign song during his re-election campaign of 1864.
The Confederacy (the South, grey uniforms), liked the music but not the lyrics. The lyrics were changed for the South to adjust to the Southern cause.
The song is played here in its entirety as a result of numerous comments and messages received inquiring about this music

Well, the video quality isn't all that great, nor is there a video which shows me catching it. But it does clearly show that it is a 102lb Chinook Salmon. This was at Potomac River (atleast I think that is the name), and it was 6am and raining, and its the farthest "hotspot" to the north. Give it a try yourself!
I'm pretty sure this is the first video on here for this kind of stuff, so enjoy!
*Note* - I have gotten 110.50 lbs, but I didn't have a camera with me

A slide show about the Battle of Antietam. The pictures were taken at Antietam National Battlefield, 2008.
I know it's not the most exciting slide show ever, but I did what I could. ENJOY!
In case it was hard to read in the video all the information is listed below:
-The Battle of Antietam started at dawn Sept. 17, 1862 when General Joseph Hooker's artillery began firing on Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson's men.
-It was the height of the 1st of Confederate General Robet E. Lee's 2 attempts to carry the war into the North.
-It was the bloodiest single-day battle in American history.
-First major battle in the American Civil War to take place on Northern soil.
-The battle lasted about 12 hours
-Between both forces there were 23.000 losses.
-The Confederate Army was eventually forced to retreat back across the Potomac River.
-After the Battle of Antietam the course of the American Civil War was greatly altered.
-The battle gave Abraham Lincoln the opportunity to issue the Emancipation Proclamation...which on Jan. 1, 1863 declared all slaves in rebellious states free.

These two Loudoun wineries, Lost Creek Winery and Vineyards and Hidden Brook Winery, are owned by father and son. They enjoy a friendly rivalry to see who can produce the best wine. Each has his own style, and its reflected in the wineries themselves, from the American log-cabin style Hidden Brook, to the European style Lost Creek. These wineries are situated north of Leesburg, in the Potomac Cluster of DC's Wine Country. Enjoy!
