  Coos Bay is a city located in Coos County, Oregon, United States. As of the 2000 census, Coos Bay had a total population of 15,374. The 2007 estimate is 16,210 residents. The city is located at the mouth of the Coos River on Coos Bay on the Pacific Ocean, and borders on the nearby city of North Bend.

From its office in downtown Coos Bay on Commercial Avenue, The World serves Oregon's South Coast, including the cities of Coos Bay, North Bend, Reedsport, Bandon, Coquille and Myrtle Point. Circulation is 12,250 on weekdays and 14,250 on Saturdays, according to the Audit Bureau of Circulations. The paper has been owned by Lee Enterprises since its 2005 acquisition of Pulitzer Newspapers Inc.
